English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship Clasees
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are offered to community members with limited knowledge of English.
The beginners course focuses on speaking and listening as the key elements needed to develop a wide range of language skills, including pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary.
The intermediate course focuses on conversation, reading, writing and classroom discussions on various topics. Students will also participate in classroom activities and complete short assignments.
Classes are delivered at no cost and begin in August and end in June. At the end of the academic year, students are honored for their accomplishment in learning English with an awards recognition luncheon in June. For information on class schedules and locations, please contact (480) 812-1693
Citizenship Classes
Citizenship classes are offered to community members who have filed and/or are in the process of filing their N-400 citizenship application.
The classes are designed to prepare students to take the examination both oral and written. Students are provided a workbook with lessons in American History, Civics and Geography. Students participate in mock interviews similar to the one they will be involved in on the date of their interview. Students are also tested regularly on their knowledge of the 100 questions provided by Inmigration and Naturalization Services (INS), their N-400 application and on their writing skills.
Classes are held throughout the year. For additional information on class schedules and locations, please contact (480) 812-1693
