Annual Cesar E. Chavez Educator’s of the Year Celebration March 27, 2010
The event is named in remembrance and celebration of the legacy that César E. Chavez left-an inspiration of non-violent activism, a dream of justice and a hope for a better tomorrow. These same values serve as the basis for the Si Se Puede Foundation and the Annual Educators’ of the Year Recognition Award Ceremony and Celebration. The event is designed to honor and recognize Chandler’s best educators within the Chandler Unified School District and Chandler/Gilbert Community College. According to Alberto L. Esparza, president & CEO, “the awards are given to educators who have truly made a difference in not only their school, but their communities. Educators who have shown a soul full of grace and a heart filled with love”. Last year’s event honored 5 outstanding Chandler Unified Educators as well as a community advocate. The 2010 winners will be honored at the San Marcos Resort, One San Marcos Place, Chandler, AZ at 7:00 PM and on Saturday March 27, 2010. For tickets, sponsorship opportunities and/or to nominate a Chandler educator for an award, please contact (480) 206-2292. Proceeds from the event go towards educational scholarships for Chandler youth. An added feature to this year’s event is our student essay contest. Winners will be selected from the high school, Jr. High and elementary schools. Students will be asked to write their essays on the meaning of Cesar E. Chavez’s Legacy and his commitment to education. Winners will be selected by a committee of former award winners and who will then announce each winner at our annual dinner. Each first place winner will then be asked to read their speeches at the annual dinner.
